Aquamarine
Aquamarine is the blue to greenish blue to bluish green variety
of beryl (which includes emeralds and the pink variety called morganite).
It is considered to be the symbol of happiness and everlasting youth. The
name aquamarine came from a Latin word meaning "sea water" doe to its
color which resembles the blue of the sea. Aquamarine comes mainly from
Brazil, but can also be found in Madagascar. Aquamarine is commonly heat
treated to help eliminate the greenish color; thereby, purifying the blue
color. This treatment is permanent and is considered an improvement for
the Aquamarine.
